Spatial intelligence refers to the ability to comprehend and navigate the three-dimensional world around us. To address this, AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li emphasizes the importance of equipping machines with spatial intelligence, allowing them to process visual data, make predictions, and act upon those predictions in a three-dimensional context. This advancement could enable AI to interact with humans in the real world more naturally and effectively.

Li’s startup, World Labs, is at the forefront of this innovation, focusing on building Large World Models (LWMs) that enable AI systems to perceive, generate, and interact with 3D environments. By developing spatial intelligence, these AI systems can better understand the physical structure and dynamics of the world, leading to applications in robotics, autonomous vehicles, and immersive augmented reality experiences.
